I hope that you all had a cozy and warm weekend, despite the cold weather outside. As you all know, this week's forecast is still looking quite chilly. I wanted to quickly share some answers to frequently asked questions during inclement weather conditions.
Here are some information points to clarify cold weather policies in our school district:
❄️All GPPSD schools are open, every school day, no matter the weather conditions.
❄️If the weather is below -25°C, recess is indoors.
❄️Buses typically run to a temperature of -40°C without the windchill.
❄️Bus cancellations are posted around 6:00 am on the GPPSD website and GPPSD Facebook page. Please check these pages in the morning if you are unsure about the temperatures and your child rides the bus. Please see the links below.
❄️If your child typically walks to school, it is strongly recommended that you ensure they are dressed properly. Please see the infographic below. If you are able to arrange a ride for them, that would be a safer alternative.
❄️If your child is dropped off early to school, please drop them off at the front office doors so they can wait inside our main boot room until morning supervision begins.
❄️If your child will not be attending school on a cold weather day, please email both the homeroom teacher and the office so we can quickly ensure all students are safe and accounted for.
