Here are some quick updates for our class:
📓 Learning Updates 🏫
Math - We have been learning all about mass. Mass is how much matter is in an object and is a way of measuring the weight of both light and heavy objects. We have learned that 1 gram weighs about as much as a paperclip. We have also learned that one kilogram weighs about as much as a large hardcover book. We know that there are 1000 grams in 1 kilogram. We have been practicing converting grams to kilograms and kilograms to grams. Ask your child to estimate the weight of various objects around your house in grams or kilograms. Help your child notice and look for these measurements in real life.
Social - We have completed our study of Tunisia. We are now wrapping up all of our learning this year in Social Studies by exploring the topic of Global Citizenship. We have learned that Global Citizenship is the idea that everyone, no matter where they live, is part of a worldwide community. This has been our common theme throughout this year and it is a very important and powerful concept for children to grasp. I strongly believe our class has grown to be so much more aware, understanding, and accepting of all of the amazing people, places, and cultures that we have in our world.
We watched and discussed an animated story called "If the World Were a Village."
I encourage you to watch this video again with your child and discuss the information it provides. Here is the link: https://safeshare.tv/x/ss58b4cbb87b730
We also discussed the Convention of Children's Rights. We compared rights and responsibilities. Working together, we made a class "quilt" of some of our rights. Please ask your child what children's rights are and why they are important.
